Why do not Bin Salman and Erdogan meet in Qatar?

Sources told Reuters that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was planning to meet with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Qatar; but the lack of coordination and agreement in their plans prevents this meeting.

According to Pak Sahafat news agency, Reuters quoted an informed source as saying that a direct meeting between Erdogan and Mohammed bin Salman in Qatar was not possible this week; but it may happen soon.

A Turkish official and another Gulf official who is aware of the trip plans say talks are under way between the two sides in Qatar; but “there is no agreement on the plans, so there does not seem to be a comprehensive meeting.”

“But there is a lot of opportunity for cooperation to resolve regional issues,” he said, adding, “but this meeting may be held sooner.”

Erdogan, Qatar’s key strategic ally arrived in Qatar on Monday as the Turkish economy suffered a historic fall and high inflation after a sharp drop in the exchange rate.

Bin Salman is scheduled to arrive in Doha tomorrow, Wednesday, as part of the Persian Gulf tour, which starts on Monday in Oman and includes all GCC countries.
