What are the main reasons for the Taliban to leave the Afghan-Afghan negotiating table?

Referring to the one-month suspension of talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban in Doha, experts cited three important reasons for the group not being at the negotiating table.

Esfandiar Mir, a Pakistani researcher at Stanford University, said the Taliban had left the peace talks with the Afghan government for three reasons.

The Afghanistan expert tweeted: Sources close to the Taliban say that the reason for the group’s distance from the peace talks is the fact that the names of the Taliban leaders were not removed from the UN Security Council blacklist, doubts about the fate of the group’s prisoners and the uncertainty of Washington’s assessment of the Qatar agreement.

Regarding the cessation of talks and the escalation of violence in Afghanistan, he added: Sources close to the Talibaan say the group’s violence has escalated due to the Biden government’s lack of interest in the Afghan peace process.

Afghanistan peace talks have been suspended for the past 36 days by the Taliban leaving the negotiating table.

US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan recently said that Joe Biden, in consultation with NATO members and US military commanders, is still considering the Qatar agreement and will make his decision on Afghanistan in the coming days or weeks.

Nazar Mohammad Mutamen, a Talibaan insider, said the Taliban would resume attacks on foreign forces if the United States withdrew from the Qatar agreement.
