US: We provided $ 84 billion in military assistance to Afghanistan

The Department of Defense says Washington has spent more than $ 84 billion over two decades equipping and training Afghan National Security Forces.

According to the Washington Times, Pentagon spokesman Rob Ludwick added on Thursday that a large amount of US weapons and equipment had now fallen into the hands of the Taliban.

This huge US military spending in Afghanistan could not even prevent the disbandment of 300,000 Afghan security and defense forces. The scandal of the operation to leave Afghanistan has forced US officials to downplay the quantity and quality of equipment left in the country.

A Pentagon spokesman claimed: While much of the weapons of the Afghan security and defense forces may be in the hands of the Taliban, it should be noted that this equipment was used to fight low-level insurgency.

According to the Washington Times, Pentagon spokesman Rob Ludwick added on Thursday that a large amount of US weapons and equipment had now fallen into the hands of the Taliban.

He added: This equipment is not intended to be a strategic use for a military force and does not pose a significant threat to US forces or neighboring armies.

According to U.S. defense sources, the military dropped weapons, including guided weapons, as it left Bagram Air Base.
