The US State Department has stated its “strong” opposition to the International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutor’s decision to launch an investigation into Israeli war crimes in Palestine.

According to Russia Today, the US State Department stated that we oppose the statement of the Attorney General of the International Criminal Court regarding the launch of an investigation into the Palestinians.

The ministry added: We are deeply concerned about the International Criminal Court‘s attempt to enforce its jurisdiction over Israel.

Earlier, Fatou Bensouda, Attorney General of the International Criminal Court, whose term expires on June 15, stressed: The International Criminal Court (ICC) Office of the Prosecutor General has launched an investigation into Palestine.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi also responded by saying that the start of an investigation into war crimes in Israel was a “moral and legal failure.”
