US agrees to sell $ 1 billion worth of military weapons to Nigeria

The US government has announced that it has approved the sale of attack aircraft and other equipment to Nigeria.

According to Pak Sahafat News agency, quoting the Prime Times news site, the planes are expected to be used in the fight against terrorism and other gunmen in the West African country.

According to the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency, Nigeria will have to pay about $ 997 million for this equipment.

The announcement of the agreement to sell the new equipment to Nigeria comes as less than a year ago, the US government sold and delivered 12 units of “Super Tucano” fighters to Nigeria.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency said the equipment the Nigerian government intends to purchase includes 12 AH-1Z attack helicopters, 28 T700-GE-401 engines and 2,000 APKWS weapons equipment.

According to the statement, the amount paid by Nigeria also includes training for Nigerian employees to work with this equipment.
