Ukraine: The city of Mariupol is the new Aleppo

Pak Sahafat – Adviser to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine said on Sunday night about the latest developments in the war and conflict in his country: in the city of Mariupol, which is a new Aleppo, there is still fighting and conflict.

According to Pak Sahafat News agency, Vasil Miroshnichenko told Qatar’s Al-Jazeera news network that thousands of residents of the port city of Mariupol were still unable to leave despite the announcement of the opening of safe crossings.

The remarks came as Russia’s Defense Ministry issued a statement Sunday night urging Ukrainian forces in the city of Mariupol to lay down their arms and surrender.

“We are closely monitoring the movements of the Belarusian military, our information indicates that they are not ready for battle,” Miroshnichenko said, accusing the Belarusian government of aiding Russia.

He also said that the Ukrainian army was ready to counter any infiltration of Belarusian forces into his country.

The adviser to the Ukrainian Defense Minister also claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin aimed to attack Kiev through a lightning strike for several days.

He added that Kiev had not yet been besieged and that most Russian troops were stationed north of the capital.

Miroshnichenko also spoke about the continuing clashes in the city of Odessa: Despite efforts, Russian forces have not yet been able to capture the city.

He also claimed that our information indicates that the city of Erbin has been recaptured so far and that the conflict over Bucha [in Kiev province] continues.

Russia went to war with Ukraine on March 25, seeking recognition of the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics and criticizing Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier and on March 2 for the West’s indifference to Moscow’s security concerns.

Following the war, Western European leaders, who had previously strongly supported Kiev over Russia, held news conferences at European Commission President von der Lahn, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, and finally British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. “Ukraine’s membership in the European Union and NATO is not possible overnight, and there is no prospect of such membership in the near future, and the Ukraine war is not a NATO war, and Moscow’s security concerns should be addressed through negotiations.”
