Turkey’s opposition attacks Erdogan’s government on the management of the earthquake crisis

Pak Sahafat – Leaders of the opposition parties in Turkey criticized the performance of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in recent days and accused his government of incompetence in managing the country’s Sahargah earthquake crisis on Monday.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency’s report, the leaders of the opposition parties of the Turkish government blamed the authorities of this country for the delay in rescuing people under the rubble, the delay in sending rescue forces, the failure to use the power of the army and the armed forces, and the delay in sending aid and volunteer rescue forces to the earthquake-affected areas in 10 provinces.

According to Khabar.7 website, Kemal KılıçdaroÄŸlu, the leader of the Republican People’s Party of Turkey, who along with the mayors affiliated with this party went to the earthquake-affected areas after the 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes in Kahraman Marash province, sent messages repeatedly published on his user account on social networks and accused Erdogan’s government of incompetence in managing this crisis.

In one of his posts, while sharing the activities of Akram Imamoglu, the mayor of Istanbul, Mansour Yavash, the mayor of Ankara, Tonç Sevir, the mayor of Izmir, and Vehap Secher, the mayor of Mersin, in the earthquake-affected areas, he said to the government officials: “Let us come. Arrest them. We will remove this debris.”

Erdogan’s election rival wrote in another post: “Either arrest us all or release the youth and journalists you have arrested. We have a lot of work to do.”

Salahuddin DemirtaÅŸ, the former and imprisoned leader of the People’s Democratic Party of Turkey, published a message on his account on social networks, while confirming the video message of the leader of the Republican People’s Party of Turkey, Kemal Klichdaroglu, and wrote: Both strong solidarity and a strong political position are very important and valuable to get through this difficult time together.

Temel Karamlaoglu addressed the officials of the Turkish government and said: Issue the necessary orders to your ministers, parliamentarians and government agents who do even the simplest tasks with orders, and keep silent so that others can do their work.

He accused the Turkish government of “intellectual obstruction” and saying that they should go back to their work, he added: “The officials of Erdogan’s government should try to meet the needs of the citizens instead of thinking about accountability.”

Ali Babajan, the leader of Turkey’s Leap and Democracy Party (Deva), who went to Hatay province after the earthquake, said to Erdogan: “The disaster cannot be managed with the language of threats.”

The leader of the People’s Republic Party also considered the destruction and collapse of buildings in this area as the result of the systematic policy of rent during his visit to the earthquake affected areas of Hatay province and said: Government ministers go around the cities with caravans to attract the attention of public opinion, but the necessary measures are not taken to coordinate this disaster.

KılıçdaroÄŸlu called the government and the ruling Justice and Development Party “failed” in managing the crisis and Erdogan was the only one responsible for this situation and stated: They do not know how the government is run because this government has not prepared the country for an earthquake in the last two decades when it has been in power.

Binali Yıldırım, the vice-chairman of Turkey’s Justice and Development Party, said in response to the accusations of political parties and activists who oppose the government: By mobilizing all facilities, Erdogan’s government is trying with all its heart and soul to bring life back to normal.

Fuad Oktay, the first vice president of Turkey, also responding to the words of the leader of the Republican People’s Party of Turkey, saying that all Turkish statesmen are present day and night in the earthquake-stricken areas and are rescuing people, said: I feel sorry for those who are trying to get a few thousand political votes in this situation.

Accepting the existence of shortcomings in the management of the earthquake crisis, the first vice president of Turkey said: I condemn the ugly approaches of the opposition in this field and I hope they end this position from today.
