Turkey’s emphasis on continuing military operations on Iraqi soil

During his visit to the Iraqi-Syrian border, the Turkish Defense Minister stressed the need for continued military operations on Iraqi soil.

Turkish Defense Minister Halusi Akar visited the headquarters of the 23rd Infantry Unit in the Sharnak region of southeastern Turkey near the Iraqi-Syrian border on Saturday (yesterday).

During the visit, he said that operations in Iraq are continuing and that we will soon see military movements.

He stated that our military operations will continue until the last terrorist is eliminated and the nation is saved from the scourge of terrorism.

Akar claimed that supporting the security of the Turkish people is also in the interest of the security and stability of the brotherly nation of Iraq and will bring peace and security to the entire region.

According to the Baghdad Al-Youm website, the Turkish Defense Minister also said that the Turkish army was closely monitoring the situation and movements of PKK elements in northern Iraq, especially in Sinjar and Makhmour in northern Iraq, and that Turkey was ready to It has announced its full cooperation and coordination with Iraq in order to expel the terrorists from the region to the Iraqi side.

Akar added that we are waiting for the necessary measures to be taken to eliminate the terrorists in Sinjar and Makhmur in the near future, and we are confident that our Iraqi neighbors will take the necessary measures in this regard, as well as closely monitoring the situation.

Turkey has recently stepped up military operations inside Iraq under the pretext of fighting PKK elements, prompting a backlash inside Iraq, with lawmakers and various political figures warning of Turkey’s intentions to occupy Sinjar.
