The Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C., lost tens of million of dollars in the four years that President Donald Trump was president, even claiming huge profits, according to documents released by Democrats on Friday in the House Appropriations Committee.
Located a few blocks from the White House, this luxury hotel has been the subject of controversy since Trump’s 2016 presidency, as it hosted many foreign officials, business leaders and other powerful figures with special interests in the United States. Trump’s foreign policy and domestic policy broke with tradition as he entered the White House, refusing to withdraw completely from the trading empire of the same name. And Democrats have for years accused Trump of using his office to profit from the hotel and numerous other business ventures run by his company around the world.
