The United States and 97 other countries agree with the Taliban to continue evacuating after August 31

The United States, along with 97 other countries, announced an agreement with the Taliban to continue the withdrawal of Afghan allies from Afghanistan after the August 31 deadline.

According to the international group Pak Sahafat, quoted by Axius news site, the joint statement of these countries reads: We are all committed to withdraw our citizens, residents, staff members and Afghans who have worked with us and those at risk to continue their journey freely to destinations outside Afghanistan.

The statement emphasized: We have received assurances from the Taliban that all foreign nationals and Afghan citizens with travel permits from our countries will be allowed to travel safely and regularly to and from abroad.

These countries said: We continue to issue travel documents to designated Afghans, and we have a clear expectation and commitment from the Taliban that they can travel to our respective countries. We refer to the Taliban’s public statements confirming this.

Shir Mohammad Abbas Stanekzai, the Taliban’s chief negotiator, said on Friday that this guide will not prevent people from traveling. Meanwhile, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan told CBS News that the United States has “significant influence” to “hold the Taliban accountable for its commitments.” “The Taliban have promised us to allow safe travel,” he said. We are not content with just what they say.
