The Red Cross criticizes the dual standard of Europe against refugees

Pak Sahafat – Francesco Roca, President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, called the rapid acceptance of Ukrainian refugees by Europe and the crackdown on refugees in Africa, the Middle East and elsewhere a double standard.

According to an Pak Sahafat News Agency report from Al Jazeera on Tuesday, Roca said the Red Cross had hoped that the Ukrainian refugee crisis would change European immigration policy, but unfortunately did not.

He added: Although Poland, Romania, Hungary, Moldova and Slovakia readily accept refugees from Ukraine, migrants and asylum seekers trying to reach Europe from other countries still face death, abuse and difficulty accessing essential services.

He said more than 48,000 migrants had died or disappeared at sea trying to reach Europe since 2014, and that the deadliest route was through the Mediterranean, where at least 19,000 had died.

UN: The suffering of Syrian, Afghan and other refugees should not be forgotten

Last month a group of African migrants and refugees living in Belgium called on the European authorities to treat them like Ukrainian refugees and displaced people.

Also, previously published reports showed; Blacks faced racism in European countries as they tried to leave Ukraine.

Published images and videos show that blacks seeking to leave Ukraine at train stations are targeted for racist behavior and prevented from boarding.

The dual standards of the West regarding the war in Ukraine and the Middle East can be seen in the reception of refugees, reactions to the war under the titles of occupation, terrorism, defense, resistance, military aid, humanitarian aid and sanctions, and their treatment of Palestinian, Syrian and Iraqi refugees and Yemei asylum seekers and other Middle Eastern countries have always been strict and violent to bring them back to another country or homeland.

Also, the defense of the people of the Middle East, including the Palestinians, against the aggressors and occupiers has always been called terrorism, but in the Ukraine war, it is referred to as the resistance and the people resistant to the aggression.
