The Israeli prime minister reacted by accusing the Israeli Mossad chief of misusing classified information for political purposes.
According to the Pak Sahafat News Agency International Group, the Hebrew-language newspaper Yedioth Ahranoth reported that contrary to the Mossad chief’s claim that the intelligence gathering operation on the fate of the missing Israeli pilot Ron Arad failed, the operation carried out by female Mossad agents was a complete success and the information gathered during the operation was presented to the Knesset.
Other Hebrew-language media outlets also wrote that after the Mossad chief criticized the revelation of the intelligence gathering operation on Ron Arad, the prime minister’s office reacted immediately, stressing that, contrary to the Mossad chief’s remarks, the operation was a success.
According to a statement from Naftali Bennett’s office: The information released by the Israeli Channel 12, quoting the head of Mossad, is untrue.
The statement added: The operation to gather information on the fate of Ron Arad was a successful operation against exceptional operational objectives, and the information was provided to members of the Knesset.
In response to Bennett’s remarks about the operation, the Mossad chief said that such an operation was carried out, but he could not achieve the goals he needed.
The Mossad chief also praised the Israeli prime minister for exposing Mossad operations for political purposes.
It is not clear why the Prime Minister and the head of Mossad, the head of this intelligence service, are not aware of their internal affairs due to this contradiction, or the Israeli prime minister has more access than the Mossad chief in the organization, maybe both Bennett and his predecessor Netanyahu are bluffing.
