The Palestinian prisoner went into coma after a 53-day hunger strike

A young Palestinian prisoner from the West Bank went into a coma today after a 53-day hunger strike.

The hunger strike of “Ghazanfar Abu Atwan”, a Palestinian prisoner in the Zionist regime, entered its 53rd day today (Saturday – June 26).

According to the Palestine Today news website, the hunger strike of this Palestinian prisoner entered its 53rd day today in protest of the administrative detention by the Zionist regime, while there are many warnings about his physical condition.

“The Palestinian prisoner in the Zionist hospital in Kabulun is still in critical condition and his physical condition is still critical,” said Munqiz Abu Azwan, head of the Bethlehem Prisoners of War and Prisoners’ Office in Bethlehem.

On the other hand, the captive’s family says that their child is no longer able to speak due to his deteriorating physical condition, and that the occupying authorities are fully responsible for this.

Two days ago, the Supreme Court of the Zionist regime decided to suspend the administrative detention of Abu Atwan, following a request from the regime’s prosecutor’s office, citing medical reports that indicate that the prisoner’s life was indeed in danger.

Hassan Abdurrahman, an information consultant for the Prisoners and Freedmen Organization, had previously said that Abu Atwan, who had been in administrative detention since October last year, was suffering from thinness, extreme tiredness, constant dizziness and joint pain.

The number of Palestinian prisoners and detainees in the prisons of the occupying Israeli regime is estimated at 5,300, of which 520 are in administrative detention, according to the institutions in charge of prisoners’ affairs.
