The Organization of Islamic Cooperation demanded the implementation of the Security Council resolution on Kashmir

Pak Sahafat – In a statement, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) once again asked the international community to take decisive measures to resolve the Jammu and Kashmir conflict in accordance with the relevant resolutions of the Security Council. This statement followed the reaction of the New Delhi government.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency’s report on Saturday, in a statement published on the website of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, it is stated: August 5, 2022 is the third anniversary of illegal actions in the Jammu and Kashmir region.

A part of this statement states: Illegal actions cannot change the disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir or harm the legitimate right of the people of Kashmir to self-determination.

The Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, recalling the resolutions of the Islamic Summit and the Council of Foreign Ministers regarding Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizes the solidarity of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation with the people of Kashmir in realizing their inalienable right to self-determination.

The organization calls for respect for fundamental freedoms and basic principles of human rights and for the cancellation of all illegal and unilateral actions taken on or after August 5, 2019.

The Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation once again requests the international community to take specific steps to resolve the Jammu and Kashmir conflict based on the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.

India’s reaction to the statement of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation

The Indian Express website wrote: India slammed the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) over its latest statement on Friday on Jammu and Kashmir, saying it “reeks of bigotry”.

Arindam Bagchi, the spokesperson of the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said: Such statements only show that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation is committed to “collective agenda through terrorism”.
