Pak Sahafat – According to the latest statistics, the total number of victims of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria, which is the deadliest earthquake in more than a decade, has exceeded 9,400 people.
According to the report of Pak Sahafat News Agency, according to the Turkish authorities, the number of victims of the recent earthquake in this country reached 6957 people. In Syria, 2,530 people have been killed so far, which brings the total number of victims of the deadly earthquake in these two countries to 9,487.
According to Al Jazeera, the Syrian government has confirmed that 1,250 people have been killed, and the group known as the White Helmets in Syria has reported the loss of at least 1,280 people.
Murat Kurum, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change of Turkey, announced that the country has experienced 684 aftershocks after two 7.8 and 7.7 magnitude earthquakes that shook the southern provinces. According to him, 13.5 million people of Turkey have been directly affected by these earthquakes.
According to Turkish state media, President Recep Tayyip ErdoÄŸan is going to visit the earthquake affected areas in the south of Turkey.
An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 on the Richter scale, centered in Turkey, shook many parts of the West Asia region and the Eastern Mediterranean region at dawn on Monday. Data from seismological centers indicated that this earthquake occurred on the border between Turkey and Syria and 26 kilometers northeast of Gaziantep, Turkey.
According to reports, this earthquake was registered in Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Iraq, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and parts of Ukraine and Europe including Greece, Bulgaria, etc.
Turkey is one of the most active earthquake-prone regions in the world. The last 7.8-magnitude earthquake of this country occurred in 1939, in which 33 thousand people died in Erzanjan province, located in the east of Turkey.
