The New York police announced the identity of Salman Rushdie’s assailant

Pak Sahafat – The New York police announced the identity of the assailant Salman Rushdie, the apostate author of the Satanic Verses book, who had insulted the Prophet of Islam (PBUH).

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency, the New York police announced on Friday evening local time that Salman Rushdie is still undergoing surgery. He was stabbed in the neck and abdomen.

The New York police added that the assailant is a 24-year-old Hadi Matar from Fairview, New Jersey, who is in custody.

At the same time, the police did not specify the suspect’s nationality or whether he has a criminal record.

The New York police also announced that they have no indication of the motive for this attack, but they are in contact with the FBI (American Federal Police) and are determining his charges.

Maj. Eugene J. Staniszewski told reporters: “We have no indication of a motive at this time.”

He added that the police believe that Matar acted alone.

This police official added that the attack on Salman Rushdie happened despite the presence of security forces at the scene, but our forces were able to act on time.

He stated that the suspect had an entry permit to participate in the speech, adding that he was present at the event alone and the police had no sign of previous threats.

The New York police had previously announced that Salman Rushdie was taken to the hospital by helicopter with a stab wound to the neck, and his condition is still unknown.

According to the New York Police statement, at 11:00 a.m. on August 12, 2022, a male suspect ran to the podium and attacked Salman Rushdie and the interviewer.

Some news sources also say that Salman Rushdie was stabbed 10 to 15 times, and one of them hit his neck.

Salman Rushdie, the author of the book Satanic Verses, which insulted the Prophet of Islam, was attacked on Friday local time when he was about to give a speech in West New York.

Announcing this news, an Associated Press reporter said that when a speaker was introducing Salman Rushdie at Chautauqua Institute, a man attacked the scene and punched or stabbed Salman Rushdie.

An eyewitness told the Associated Press about his observations of the attack on Salman Rushdie that the assailant quickly got on the platform and started beating Salman Rushdie.

According to this eyewitness, the apostate author of the Satanic Verses book was beaten for 20 seconds.

Rushdie’s spokesman, Andrew Wiley, also said in a statement to Reuters: Salman Rushdie is undergoing surgery. He did not provide further details.

In 1988, Salman Rushdie published the blasphemous book “Evil Verses”, which angered the Muslims of the world.

Following this disgraceful act of Salman Rushdie, he was forced to live a secret life under strict security measures and since the British government had provided the basis for the publication of this insulting book, it took the responsibility of protecting his life by spending exorbitant costs and he had to change his place of residence many times.
