The impact of the earthquake on Erdogan’s plan to meet with Bashar al-Assad

Pak Sahafat – A member of the Security and Foreign Policy Council of the Turkish Presidency said that the recent earthquake has changed all the plans of the president of this country and it is not possible to hold a meeting between Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Syrian counterpart Bashar Assad.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency’s report on Monday, “Shajari Orhan” in an interview with “Novosti” added that Erdogan is not against such meetings in general, but the recent devastating earthquake has changed everything.

Orhan said that ErdoÄŸan’s work schedule has completely changed and that he spends three days a week in the earthquake-affected areas, and continued that the meeting with Bashar Assad may take place after the elections.

According to this report, Erdogan recently announced that the time of Turkish elections has not changed and that these elections will be held on May 14.

Before this, the special representative of the Russian President on Syria announced that Moscow is trying to arrange a meeting between the presidents of Syria and Turkey.

“Alexander Lavrentif” told Al-Arabiya: Considering that Ankara and Damascus have come close to each other, there is no problem in holding this meeting and the two countries should be willing to come close to each other.

Regarding what currently prevents the Syrian government and Turkey from approaching, he added: It is no secret to anyone that the contacts between the intelligence services of the two countries are ongoing and this helps to solve some issues related to the situation in the field.
