The claim of the English publication about the movements of the European Union against the IRGC

Pak Sahafat – The English publication Financial Times, citing sources close to last week’s meeting of the Council of Ministers of the European Union, claimed that Diplomats are considering legal options to identify Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization under the pretext of baseless claims of Iran’s military participation in the Ukraine war.

The London edition of the Financial Times claimed in a report on Monday that the IRGC’s addition to what it called the European Union’s list of foreign terrorist organizations “has the support of France and Germany, which are members of the Iran nuclear deal.”

Four knowledgeable officials have claimed in an interview with this English publication: Paris and Berlin have expressed their support for identifying the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization at the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the European Union last week.

Accordingly, according to the alleged report of the Financial Times, “the legal service of the European Union is going to provide its opinion on the legal aspects of this action to 27 European countries within the next three weeks.”

Senior European official: Putting the IRGC on the terrorist list is not a good idea

Stating that it is unusual for other governments to recognize the military institution of an independent country as a terrorist organization, this English publication wrote that the UK is also considering adding the IRGC’s name as “Iran’s most powerful state security organization” to the list of terrorist organizations. “The positions of Germany and France are also important because these two countries – along with Great Britain, Russia and China – are signatories of the 2015 nuclear agreement between Tehran and world powers.”

According to this report, France is trying to add a number of IRGC bases to the list of terrorist organizations, up to the entire organization. The German Foreign Ministry has also said that “there are not only political obstacles, but also many legal obstacles to add the IRGC to the list of terrorist organizations.”

This is while, according to the regulations of the European Union, this bloc cannot introduce an organization as a terrorist organization without a court order of a member country. It is not so easy for the European Union to refer to the possible judgments of the courts of non-EU countries, including England.

The Islamic Republic of Iran had previously warned against the anti-Iranian movements of Europe, especially against the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The authorities of our country have warned that any action against it is illegal and a clear violation of the UN Charter, stating that the IRGC is considered an official military institution of the country.

The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: Any attack on the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is an attack on Iran’s national security, and the results will definitely be directed at the aggressor. Of course, the IRGC is a very big and powerful force and no one can ignore this power and capability, but the clumsy action of the European Union is like the European Union wants to limit the hand of a great anti-terrorist force.

Kanani stated: Europeans definitely know that Iran does not turn a blind eye to the ill-considered actions of European countries and has the necessary will to reciprocate in this regard, and it is better not to shoot themselves in the foot. Certainly, our response will be in accordance with Europe’s behavior and we will take serious and regretful action in accordance with their type of action.
