Tensions between the Saudi military and elements of Mansour Hadi in southern Yemen

Yemeni sources reported tensions between the Saudi military and elements of Mansour Hadi government in the southern Yemeni province of Abin to leave the city of Shaqr.

News sources in the southern Yemeni province of Abin say the Saudi army has deployed extensive military equipment to support its forces stationed in the province, against Mansour Hadi government elements.

According to Al-Khobar Al-Yemeni, the Saudi government’s military committee set up to monitor the fire in Abin province has called on the resigned government forces to leave the city of Shaqra, but has met resistance.

According to local sources, the committee met with the military commanders of the Hadi government and asked them to move their 3rd Brigade forces out of the city of Shaqra, but the commanders said that they were not instructed to do so, and the committee then contacted Riyadh and demanded that more military equipment be sent to Abin.

At the same time, the Saudi army is investigating recent mortar attacks on its headquarters in Abyan province. Twice last week, positions of the Saudi military observation post in the province were targeted, and although there were no casualties, there was a serious message to Riyadh against the ceasefire.

Some sources also say that Saudi army commanders have blamed elements of the Mansour Hadi government for mortar attacks on the observation post.

According to the military phase of the Riyadh agreement, the Saudi army is responsible for monitoring the ceasefire between elements of the Hadi government and the militants of the Southern Transitional Council.
