Taliban: We do not prevent people from celebrating Nowruz

A Taliban spokesman said the Afghan governing body would not officially celebrate Nowruz, but would not prevent people from celebrating Nowruz.

According to the Pak Sahafat news agency international group, Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban’s deputy minister of information and culture and a spokesman for the Taliban, said of the Afghan governing body’s official position on Nowruz that they would not prevent people from holding Nowruz celebrations.

Stating that the Taliban government will not officially celebrate Nowruz,” he said: “We do not celebrate any ceremony that is not in Islam.”

Earlier, the Taliban mayor in Mazar-e-Sharif, Qudratullah Tariq, had said he was preparing for the Nowruz celebrations: As in previous years, preparations have been made this year, and we have worked to make the city greener, brighter, and cleaner.

Every year, the largest Nowruz ceremony in Afghanistan is held at the tomb of Imam Ali (as) in Mazar-e-Sharif, the capital of Balkh province, a city known as the “Origin of Nowruz”.

According to the ritual ceremony, the high jumping ceremony should start on the first day of spring and at 9 o’clock in the morning in the western courtyard of “Sakhi” pilgrimage attributed to Imam Ali (AS) in Mazar-e-Sharif city of Balkh province. .

It is said that this ritual has become popular since the time of “Amir Shir Ali Khan” after the people were able to establish their religious and national rituals away from the concerns of political and royal rule.

The celebration of Noruz and the celebration of the high jump for the people of Afghanistan is in fact an excuse for the renewal of brotherhood and equality, an allegory of national unity and Islamic brotherhood, the strengthening of lasting bonds of faith and belief, a celebration of life and freedom and an excuse to renew beauty.
