Taliban: Afghans fall victim to 9/11 / we condemned the attack 20 years ago

A senior member of the Taliban’s political bureau said none of Afghans were involved in the 9/11 attacks, which the Taliban had condemned 20 years ago.

According to the regional office of Pak Sahafat News Agency, asked about their role in the 9/11 attacks, Taliban spokesman Sohail Shaheen said: No Afghans were involved in 9/11. At the time, I was working at the embassy (Afghanistan in Islamabad) as deputy ambassador. We condemned the incident and announced that we were working together to find the real culprits.

In an interview with Rashatoudi, Shahin stated that the people of Afghanistan wanted to resolve this incident through dialogue and prevent an invasion of Afghanistan, but we fell victim to the aftermath of 9/11, when no Afghans were involved.

He also spoke about the mistreatment, temporary detention and torture of journalists: We have no problem with impartial reporting, but they must be licensed by the Ministry of Interior and determine their location and object in advance.

A senior member of the Taliban‘s political bureau said: The demonstrations took place without the knowledge of the authorities. People took to the streets, using provocative words and resorting to provocative actions to force the security forces to react.

He also claimed: They were trying to enter the presidential palace, while we received reports that some members of ISIL, disguised as women demonstrators, wanted to enter the presidential palace and carry out a suicide attack where our leaders are staying. That is why our security forces had to stop them.
