Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament: There is no question of normalizing relations with Israel

The Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament took a stand on the normalization of relations with the Zionist regime and said: The Iraqis will not reach out to the Israelis in any way.

The speaker of the Iraqi parliament, Mohammed al-Halbousi, stressed that peace talks for the Iraqi people do not include the Zionist regime.

Al-Halbousi, speaking at a meeting of the Al-Rafidin Dialogue Forum in Baghdad attended by President Barham Saleh and other prominent Iraqi officials and politicians, said in response to a question about rumors about the normalization of relations with the Zionist regime: Whether we are in power or others, there is no question of normalizing relations with Israel, and the Iraqis will not reach out to the Israelis in any way.

Al-Halbousi added: We may differ in our approaches; some of us in Iraq are Islamists and some are nationalists or ethnicists, but both groups agree that Palestine will remain free forever and an Arab state.

He stressed that the peace talks do not include the usurper regime in any way.

The Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, while acknowledging the problem of corruption in the government, said: Corruption is a scourge for which we must find a solution, political groups are well aware of the need for a new political era.

“There is no problem with the president being Sunni or Shiite or Kurdish,” he said. Iraq is a strong barrier for all countries in the region, and its stability is important for all regions.
