Salman Rushdie’s assailant denied the accusations

Pak Sahafat – Salman Rushdi’s assailant’s lawyer told reporters that during the first court session, he denied the charge of attempted murder and declared that he was innocent.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency, Reuters news agency quoted Nathaniel Baron as saying that the preliminary hearing of Hadi Matar‘s trial will be held next Friday.

American media reported that Matar was born in California and recently moved to New Jersey.

According to the prosecutor, 24-year-old Matar stabbed Rushdi 10 times during a targeted and pre-planned attack.

CNN previously reported that a Hezbollah official, who asked to remain anonymous, said in response to the American network’s question whether Hezbollah had information about the attacker of the apostate author of the Satanic Verses book: We don’t know anything about this issue other than what is reported in the media, and therefore we have no opinion.

The New York state Chattanooga District Attorney’s Office announced yesterday that Matar was charged with attempted murder and was held in custody without bail.

On the other hand, Rushdi’s relatives have reported that he is no longer connected to the ventilator and can speak.

It was previously announced that as a result of the recent attack, the liver and nerves of one of the hands of the author of the book Satanic Verses were damaged and he may lose one of his eyes.
