Russian senator: Europe does not have a sensible strategy in a changing world

According to a Russian parliamentary official, European countries, while discouraged by the United States and know that they are no longer a priority for Washington; lack an independent policy and a sensible strategy to deal with problems.

According to the international group of Pak Sahafat news agency, quoted by “Novosti” news agency, Alexei Pushkov, a senior member of the Information Policy Committee of the Russian Federation (Senate) Council, believes that in today’s rapidly changing world, European countries lack a sensible and well-considered strategy.

The Russian senator wrote today (Sunday) on his Telegram channel: “It’s not clear what Europe is counting on in today’s changing world: The strategic potential of the countries of this continent is not so great. The United States does not need the Europeans to deal with China, and Washington officials have not even informed the European Union about a tripartite alliance with Britain and Australia.”

Alexei Pushkov explained: “Europeans are now outraged by the US response and, on the other hand, frustrated by its inability to do the right thing about Afghanistan, and now more than ever they are talking about the need for an independent policy and independence from the United States. But on what basis and with whom will the European Union shape its policy? Cooperation with the United States, which is becoming more and more difficult for them, with Russia, whose relations have reached a dead end. With China, which has no political cooperation at all, and European influence in the Arab world has declined sharply. “In general, European countries do not have a sensible and prudent strategy, and they respond to each of the problems they face, momentarily and instantly, and no more.”

The Russian parliamentary official briefly noted: “Europeans, on the other hand, strongly believe in the right thing to do and in their ideology, which, given its inefficiency, makes such a belief completely empty and worthless.”

Commenting on the French Foreign Minister’s remarks on the crisis in relations between Paris and Washington, Senator Pushkov said that differences between the United States and France as a result of cooperation with Australia could lead to an internal crisis between the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) member states.

He also called Washington’s move to attack its European partners in order to exert geopolitical influence on China a clear contradiction. According to the Russian senator, the US government thus wants to show its sovereignty over the Europeans and that they are not a priority for Washington. This US confrontation began during the presidency of Barack Obama and now continues in the Biden administration.
