Russia: The media and the international community are silent about the violence of the Ukrainian army

Pak Sahafat – Gennady Gatilov, the permanent representative of Russia at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, said on Wednesday that the West and the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) are silent against the violence of the Ukrainian army and authorities.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency from Tass, Gatilov noted during a round table held in Geneva on the sidelines of the 52nd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC) on violations of the norms and principles of war by the Ukrainian armed forces and Ukrainian military groups: Deliberately and cowardly, Western media and international human rights mechanisms remain silent.

Gatilov said: You will not hear anything about these crimes either from the speeches of the Europeans, Americans and their satellites, including at the UN Human Rights Council, or from the OHCHR and the Independent International Commission of Inquiry in Ukraine.

This Russian diplomat continued: They prefer to ignore the animal cruelty and unscrupulous nature of the Ukrainian army and authorities, inhumane revenges against defenseless civilians and unarmed and wounded prisoners of war, and the use of prohibited war methods.

Gatilov noted that Ukrainian armed groups continue to shell Donbas cities using artillery systems provided by the West.

At the same time, he continued, “a favorite technique of the Kyiv military is to place its military equipment and fighters in schools, hospitals, and other civilian infrastructure facilities.

The Russian diplomat said that in the context of “unauthorized silence from international human rights mechanisms, Western political circles, so-called independent media”, it is more important to pay attention to the criminal actions of Kiev on the sidelines of the Human Rights Council meetings.
