Russia: Syrian air defense shoots down 91% of Israeli missiles

An Israeli media outlet quoted Russian sources as saying that the Syrian army’s air defense unit had intercepted and shot down 91 percent of the missiles fired in the recent Israeli attack.

Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported in its information base that, The Russians claim that in an Israeli air strike on targets in Damascus and Homs, the Syrian army’s air defenses managed to intercept and shoot down 91 percent of these missiles.

Ahronoth was quoted as saying by Vadim Koolit, a Syrian army officer who works as the deputy commander of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of Syrian Groups Hamim that, Syrian air defense systems have intercepted and shot down 22 of the 24 missiles fired in the recent attack on Thursday night.

According to Russian sources, this means that the success rate of the Syrian defense systems is 91%.

Colitis also stressed in connection with the attack that, six Israeli fighter jets target Lebanese airspace in Damascus provinces but Russian-made air defense systems, the Bantsir S and Buk M2E, respectively, managed to shoot down missiles fired at Damascus.

According to the Israeli media, despite the news that four people were killed in the attack in Israel, the Russians insist that the attack did not cause any casualties.
