Price: America will take stronger measures against Russia

Pak Sahafat – Ned Price, the spokesman of the US State Department announced on Wednesday night that it is expected that more measures will be taken by Washington against Russia in the coming days in response to holding a referendum in the occupied territories of Ukraine.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency from Reuters, Ned Price, the spokesman of the US Department of State, told reporters: We will continue to work with allies and partners to increase pressure on Russia and the individuals and entities that support the occupation.

The words of the spokesperson of the US State Department for more measures against Russia are done while the European Union, a close partner of the US, has already prepared itself for further sanctions against Russia.

Ursula von der Leyen, the head of the European Commission, said referring to Russia holding a referendum in the occupied territories of Ukraine, Moscow’s military mobilization and Vladimir Putin’s threat to use nuclear weapons. We are determined that the Kremlin will pay for these actions. In this regard, as part of the new round of sanctions to be signed by the 27 EU countries, the Commission will set the legal basis for the Russian oil price cap, in line with the G7 agreement.

According to von der Leyen, the EU is also looking to ban $7 billion worth of Russian exports and tighten restrictions on EU goods that could help Russia’s war machine.

Referendums to join Russia were held in the four eastern regions of Donbas, located in eastern Ukraine, from September 23 to 27, According to the final results, 99.23% voted to join Russia in Donetsk People’s Republic, 98.42% in Luhansk People’s Republic, 93.11% in Zaporozhye region, and 87.05% of residents of Kherson region voted to join Russia. They wanted to become part of the Russian Federation.
