Newsweek claims about Russia’s initial plan to take over Ukraine

Pak Sahafat – Newsweek claimed in a report that Russia’s initial plan in the war with Ukraine was such that the Moscow army could control the whole of Ukraine within 10 days.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency report, Newsweek wrote on Friday night, according to the orders given, the Russian army was trying to avoid long casualties on the battlefield by using an offensive stance. Other goals of this program are to surprise the enemy with a lot of firepower, destabilize the leadership of Ukraine and smooth the conditions for the country’s accession to Russia by August.

According to this plan, Russia wanted to take control of the entire Ukraine within 10 days.

This report states: Russia’s plans for the invasion of Ukraine were detailed and provided solutions to most of the practical problems Russia would face in occupying Ukraine. If these plans were implemented correctly, Moscow could succeed.

The report claims that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine hinged on the success of four key assumptions:

First, the invasion happens quickly and destroys the ability of the international community to respond meaningfully.

In the second step, the Ukrainian leadership is quickly overthrown, allowing pro-Russian Ukrainians to take more positions with the help of propaganda.

Another is that Russia can take control of the infrastructure of the heating system, electricity (especially nuclear power plants) and also the financial infrastructure of Ukraine.

America: Our military support for Ukraine continues

Russian General Valery Gerasimov said before the war that Russia – the world’s second most powerful army – would dominate Ukraine on the battlefield. The basis of this project was also planned on the same basis.

In this report, it is claimed that most of the high-ranking Russian officials were not sure about the attack on Ukraine until the last moment.

The report added that most of the Russian military forces – even the deputies of the Russian General Staff – were unaware of the intention to attack and occupy Ukraine until a few days before the attack. Many tactical military units scattered around the border did not receive orders until hours before entering Ukraine and were not fully equipped for a long-term operation.

This report states: They did not anticipate heavy clashes and underestimated the Ukrainian side.

In this report, it is claimed that Russia’s failures were caused by various factors, including the unexpected resistance of Ukraine and the intervention of the international community.

Newsweek added in its report that before the start of the war in March, Russia’s potential enemies thought that the country’s forces had seemingly huge reserves of weapons and manpower, but they had not made it public yet.

According to this media, English analysts say that paying too much attention to the quantity of Russian equipment, ignoring the weaknesses of the eastern rival in the quality of their forces, leadership, training and motivation, made countries like England and America reluctant to openly oppose Russia. Today, however, the curtains have been drawn.

Newsweek concluded: Despite all the new capabilities on the battlefield, the fate of Russia’s war in Ukraine was shaped differently by miscalculations, uncertainties, and human error. For Ukraine, victory is essential, but it can only be achieved with the continued support of its international partners.
