Netanyahu responds to corruption cases in court

The Israeli Prime Minister appeared in court for the second time to investigate his corruption cases, this time to formally answer the prosecutor’s questions in this regard.

The process resumed today (Monday) after a several-month delay in holding preliminary hearings on the corruption cases of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu due to the widespread outbreak of the Covid 19 virus in occupied Palestine.

Following the preliminary hearing of the Israeli Prime Minister’s corruption cases in the Occupied Jerusalem Court, Netanyahu appeared in person for the second time today.

According to the I24 News website, Netanyahu is scheduled to formally respond to allegations of bribery, fraud and abuse of power in court today after being charged.

The process of prosecuting Netanyahu’s corruption cases, which continued in May 2020 and then postponed due to corona restrictions, enters a new phase today with a hearing in which witness statements and prosecution evidence against the Israeli prime minister will be examined.

At today’s hearing in the occupied Jerusalem court, other defendants in Netanyahu’s corruption cases are also present with their lawyers.

According to the report, in addition to the official response of the Israeli Prime Minister to the accusations against him, there will be discussions about the timing of the hearings and how often Netanyahu will appear in court.

Zionist police have filed three counts of government and financial corruption against him, and over the past three years have questioned various sources, including former cabinet aides and ministers.

Earlier, former Israeli police chief Roni al-Sheikh had said that if Netanyahu remained in office until the end of the trial, Israel would incur unpaid costs, so he should resign sooner.

Netanyahu’s appearance in court comes as the fourth general election in occupied Palestine in two years is scheduled for March 23, 2021.
