Israel immersed in moral corruption; Commanders rape one third of female soldiers

Pak Sahafat – The report of the Israeli regime’s supervision and inspection office about the situation of female soldiers working in the army, police, public security apparatus (Shabak) and the prison administration of this regime revealed that about a third of them have been sexually harassed by their colleagues and commanders.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency, the Palestinian news agency “Sama” wrote: According to the report of the Office of Monitoring and Inspection of the Israeli regime, which examined the protection of female soldiers on duty and was published yesterday (Monday), 22% of female soldiers working in the police, 27% of female soldiers on duty in the security guard forces and 38% Female soldiers serving in the army have been sexually assaulted during their service.

This report revealed that one out of every four female soldiers on active duty has been sexually assaulted one or more times, and this statistic is based on the responses of 161 of the 644 female soldiers on active duty who answered the questionnaire of the Monitoring and Inspection Office.

Based on this, the population of female soldiers who work on duty in the prison administration of the Israeli regime, about 38% more than others have been exposed to sexual assault.

The mentioned report mentioned that about 70% of sexual assaults and harassment against female soldiers were done by male soldiers or commanders who were in permanent service. Accordingly, 52% of these female soldiers (144 people) were sexually assaulted by soldiers or commanders who were in permanent service, and 19% reported that they were directly or indirectly harassed.

It was also found that less than half of the soldiers on duty in the police, Shabak and security services (96 out of 209 female soldiers on duty, i.e. about 46%) reported in the questionnaire that they were sexually harassed during their service.

The report of the Israeli regime’s monitoring and inspection office also states that about 33 percent of soldiers in the Israeli army stated that they had been sexually harassed one or more times since enlisting.

The report revealed that the IDF does not release its polls to the public and does not present the results to the Knesset (Parliament) Committee on the Advancement of the Status of Women and Gender Equality.

Matanyahu Engelman, the inspector of the Zionist regime, pointed out that through surveys conducted by the police in 2016, 2018 and 2021, in which female soldiers on active duty were asked whether they had experienced sexual harassment during the past year. And it found that officer-on-duty reporting of sexual harassment, particularly among women, had increased significantly.

Meanwhile, 6.44 percent of female Israeli police officers reported being sexually harassed by a police officer in 2021.

Engleman said: The female soldiers who were victims – who were sexually harassed by male soldiers on active duty or by male officers on permanent duty – were sexually harassed.

He added: We should not be indifferent to the fact that 70% of the complaints of female soldiers have not been properly dealt with and have not been put on the agenda because the process of sexual harassment against them is observed; without supporting them from the level of officials and commanders.
