Investigating the opportunities for cooperation between Iran and Pakistan in the pharmaceutical industry

A webinar reviewing the cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Pakistan in the field of pharmaceutical industry was held in the presence of the officials of the Chamber of Commerce of the two countries, as well as the participation of the Iranian Consulate General in Karachi.

The virtual meeting of officials and members of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture and the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce was organized by our Consulate General in Karachi and the Pakistani Embassy in Tehran.

Speaking at the webinar, Iranian Consul General in Karachi Hassan Nourian said that the Islamic Republic’s foreign policy is based on the priority of relations with its neighbors, according to the new president: Although Iran and Pakistan have very good relations in the political and cultural spheres, the level of economic relations between the two countries requires more serious measures by the governments of the two countries to improve economic relations.

He pointed out the existence of significant potentials in the two neighboring pharmaceutical industries: Understanding each other’s capabilities and using infrastructure such as rail corridors and ECO roads on the Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul route, which costs 30% less than traditional routes, as well as opening new borders between Iran and Pakistan and air freight services through Iran Air It can be used to increase trade cooperation by direct flights between Tehran and Karachi and using the capacity of the Iran-Pakistan Joint Venture Company.

Business activists and investors participating in the webinar said that the most important challenge in developing trade relations between Iran and Pakistan is the lack of banking channels and the problem of financial and monetary transfer.

“Masoud Ahmad,” the Commercial and Investment Advisor of the Pakistani Embassy in Tehran, also said: The reasonable price of energy and transportation costs in Iran is a good opportunity to design joint ventures in pharmaceutical products.

Najmuddin Hassan Java, Chairman of the Iran-Pakistan Chamber of Commerce affiliated with the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the country, expressed hope: By creating joint production units, it is possible to meet the mutual pharmaceutical needs between Iran and Pakistan and even export joint production products to other countries of the world.
