Intense clashes between Afghan government forces and the Taliban continue

Afghan officials say fierce clashes between government forces and the Taliban continue in the provincial capitals of Helmand, Herat and Jawzjan.

Clashes between government forces and the Taliban continue in the central provinces of Helmand in the south, Herat in the west and Jawzjan in northern Afghanistan, according to the Anatolia news agency.

According to the news agency, Ataullah Afghan, a member of Helmand Provincial Council, told reporters that clashes between government forces and the Taliban continued in several central parts of the province.

On the other hand, General Sami Sadat, commander of the 215th Maiwand Division, called for the immediate withdrawal of civilians from Lashkar Gah, the capital of Helmand province.

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) also issued a statement yesterday: In the past 24 hours, 40 Afghan civilians have been killed in clashes in Helmand province.

According to the report, 118 civilians were injured during the period, and a major catastrophe could occur if the two sides do not protect the security of civilians.

Local officials in Herat have also reported continuing clashes between the Taliban and the Afghan army around Herat International Airport.

Herat Governor Abdul Saber Khani announced that they would continue to fight the group until the region was completely cleared of the Taliban.

The 209th Division of the Afghan Army, based in the north of the country, also issued a statement announcing an airstrike on the Taliban after the group attacked the city of Sheberghan, the capital of Jawzjan province.

The statement said that 57 Taliban militants had been killed and many more wounded so far.

In recent days, Washington has been trying to justify its role in escalating tensions in Afghanistan after two decades of occupation by foreign forces led by American terrorists.

After the alleged end of the US occupation in Afghanistan, the security situation in the country is constantly deteriorating, with analysts warning that Washington is abusing the situation in Afghanistan.
