India: We will remain a major stakeholder in Afghanistan

India’s National Security Adviser, stating that Delhi has always been one of Afghanistan’s major stakeholder, stressed that recent developments in Afghanistan could not change that.

According to the Pak Sahafat news agency, India National Security Adviser Ajit Duwal stated at the fourth regional dialogue meeting that despite the developments in Afghanistan, Delhi will maintain its role as one of the major stakeholders in the country.

At the meeting, hosted by the Tajik capital Dushanbe, Duval stressed: India has been and is a major stakeholder in Afghanistan; nothing can change that.

According to ENI, national security advisers from Tajikistan, India, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan and China discussed the situation in Afghanistan and the region.

According to the report, India’s National Security Adviser stressed the need for an inclusive government in Afghanistan and the rights of women and girls to study and participate in society.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Duval also met with his Iranian counterpart Ali Shamkhani to express concern about the activities of terrorist groups in Afghanistan, saying that these groups threaten India’s national security.

He also considered the lack of an inclusive government with the presence of representatives of ethnic and religious groups in Afghanistan, as well as the economic and humanitarian crisis, as the main challenges of this country.

It should be noted that the third round of regional dialogue on Afghanistan was held in November 2021 in Delhi, the capital of India.
