Pak Sahafat – The World Food Organization has signed a memorandum of understanding with India, based on which the country has committed to send 10,000 tons of wheat as humanitarian aid to Afghanistan through Iran’s Chabahar port.
According to Pak Sahafat News Agency from AVA news agency, India has signed a humanitarian food aid agreement with the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) in the amount of ten thousand tons of wheat for the people of Afghanistan.
The MOU was signed in Mumbai between JP Singh, Joint Secretary of the Department of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran in the Ministry of External Affairs of India and Elizabeth Favre, the representative of the World Food Program in India.

Favre said: We sincerely thank the Indian government for the food aid to the people of Afghanistan. India’s support is a lifeline for families in need and is an important part of WFP’s assistance to millions of people across Afghanistan.
The fifth tranche builds on aid already delivered by WFP in Afghanistan to those most in need, Singh said. India has fulfilled its commitment.
This is India’s fifth batch of humanitarian food aid to be sent through Chabahar port. Last year, the World Food Program provided 40,000 tons of wheat from India to 23 million tons in Afghanistan.
