Former US Marine Corps accused of attacking Congress building

The US federal prosecutor found a former Marine who served in the military under George W. Bush and Barack Obama guilty of attacking Congress.

According to the international group Pak Sahafat, quoted by Reuters, a former U.S. Marine Corps officer has pleaded guilty to assaulting a congressional building on January 6.

Accordingly, Elizabeth Kelly, a US attorney at a hearing in the Rudolf Contras District Court, said: Investigations into the defendant’s cell phone revealed information that the former Army Marine was investigating and coordinating the incident before the attack on the Congress building.

He added: There is a video on the rifleman’s cell phone that shows him coordinating and planning to attack the Congress building.

Maria Jacob, the lawyer for the former U.S. Marine, but in response to the court ruling, says the charge against his client is completely vague and many of the defendants in the January 6 incident have been summoned to court under the same pretext.

On January 6, after the announcement of the final results of the US presidential election, many supporters of former President Donald Trump took to the streets to protest the results. A few hours after the demonstration, the protesters were finally able to cross the security barrier and enter the main congressional building. Following the protesters’ entry into the Congress building, all meetings were adjourned for several hours, and delegates left the building through the building’s underground passages.

Many say it is the worst incident in American history since British forces invaded Congress in the 19th century.
