For the first time since the 90s; Lebanon raised the prices of electricity

Pak Sahafat – The Lebanese State Electricity Company announced on Tuesday that the increase in electricity prices in the country will start from today.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency’s report from Anatoly news agency, the company’s spokesperson, whose name has not been mentioned, said in a statement published by the Lebanese local media that starting today (Tuesday), 100 kilowatt hours of consumption will be sold at the price of 10 US cents.

It will be calculated for each kilowatt, but if this amount exceeds 100 kilowatt hours, the user will be charged 27 cents per kilowatt hour.

Calculation of electricity costs in Lebanon in the currency of this country; lira will be done, based on the government price of dollars in the Central Bank of Lebanon, each dollar is 30 thousand liras.

Before the implementation of this price increase, the price per kilowatt hour of electricity was one cent since the 1990s.

Lebanon’s energy sector has a huge shortage, and in order for electricity to cover the entire country, electricity is cut off for many hours of the day and night.
