Five non-permanent members of the Security Council were elected

The UN General Assembly on Friday elected five non-permanent members of the Security Council for the years 2022 to 2023.

Friday’s vote in the UN General Assembly identified five non-permanent members of the Security Council for the years 2022 to 2023.

According to the report, the five countries of the United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Albania, Ghana and Gabon won non-permanent seats on the Security Council.

The UAE received 179 votes, Brazil 181 votes, Albania 175 votes, Ghana 185 votes and Gabon 183 votes out of a total of 193 votes in the General Assembly.

It should be noted that the UN Security Council is composed of five permanent members and ten non-permanent members, with five non-permanent members changing each year.

The United States, Russia, China, France, and the United Kingdom have veto power as permanent members of the Security Council.
