Erdogan congratulated the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi on the anniversary of the founding of the UAE

In a telephone conversation with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, the Turkish President congratulated the UAE on its 50th anniversary and discussed regional issues and ways to improve relations between the two countries.

According to Pak Sahafat news agency, the communications department of the Turkish Presidential Administration said in a statement that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan telephoned Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to congratulate the UAE on its 50th anniversary, and the two sides discussed regional issues and special steps to improve relations between the two countries.

Turkey-UAE relations over the past few years have seen growing tensions over a number of issues, most notably Turkey’s support for Qatar, the Libyan, Syrian and Yemeni issues.

Recently, however, political tensions between the two countries have eased dramatically, with Erdogan and bin Zayed discussing ways to boost co-operation and joint action and regional issues during talks in Ankara on November 24th, and signing several co-operation agreements in various fields.
