The Emirati group Edge (specializing in security, defense and espionage systems) has invested heavily in strengthening the Israeli military and supporting its military industry.
The Edge Group signed a memorandum of understanding with the Israeli company Lockheed Martin, an ally of the Israeli army, to produce laser missiles against the Qassam missiles, the armed wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), with the aim of exploring prospects.
The Emirati media reported that the Edge Group had signed a memorandum of understanding with US Company Lockheed Martin, a leading global technology company, to explore the prospect of industrial participation in the UAE’s aviation and defense sectors.
The agreement was signed during the closing ceremony of the 72nd International Astronautics Conference 2021, the world’s most important space event to be hosted by the Middle East for the first time more than 110 countries.
Last July, the US military-based company signed a contract with the Israeli military company Rafael to develop and manufacture a laser-based defense system.

According to Israeli sources, the defense systems use laser technologies with the ability to intercept and neutralize a variety of threats, including missiles, missiles and UAVs. In their view, the cost of the future system will be significantly lower than traditional interception devices.
Tim Cahill, an official with Lockheed Martin (the largest US defense company), said: “Israel’s air defense challenges emphasize the importance of expanding its capabilities to counter missile strikes.
He added: “We look forward to working with the Israeli aerospace industry to provide a comprehensive response to Israel’s national security needs. Rafael is a world-class security industry and we look forward to working with them to address growing threats.
It is worth noting that Edge was founded on November 5, 2019 by the Abu Dhabi government in an effort to localize advanced technologies, especially those related to the defense industry.
The company consists of five main divisions: Platforms and systems, missiles and weapons, cyber defense, warfare, electronic information and mission support.
