Deputy Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament: Relying on America to solve the country’s crisis is nothing more than an illusion

Pak Sahafat – Elias Bousab, Deputy Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, stated early on Saturday: “If some people in Lebanon are relying on Washington and abroad to help the country elect a president, they are delusional.”

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency, Bousab told “Al-Mayadeen” channel: American officials have informed us that they do not have a representative to elect the president.

He added: Washington authorities have also informed us that they do not care about those who come to complain about their rivals and settle political scores.

This member of the Lebanese Parliament also criticized the World Bank and added that this international economic institution informed Beirut that the loan it was supposed to give to Lebanon for [supplying] electricity is not included in the current budget of this institution.

Bousab added that the action of the World Bank, which did not inform the Beirut authorities of the Beirut government’s non-payment of loans to solve the electricity problem, surprised him greatly.

In the end, the Deputy Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament added: America and France had promised us that they would politically intervene in the World Bank so that this institution would commit to pay the loan to Lebanon again.

Bousab’s words about relying on the United States to elect the president in Lebanon happen hours after Ali Utboosh, the deputy of the executive council of the Lebanese Hezbollah movement, also said: If there are still people who believe that they can go to foreign countries, especially Relying on America is wrong and this issue is not in the interest of Lebanon.

He continued: For Washington, the interests of the Lebanese people and the fact that a strong, brave and patriotic president is in office are not important, the only important issue for the United States is how to fulfill its interests and goals and that of the Zionist regime.

The presidency of Michel Aoun ended on October 31, 2022, and since then Lebanon has been in a political vacuum.

After 11 sessions, the Lebanese House of Representatives has not yet been able to elect a president.
