CNN report on rising crime and incompetence of US police

Pak Sahafat: New York City residents say they have overcome fear and anxiety because of the inability of the city police to deal with crime and no longer feel safe in their homes.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency, in a report from the New York Police, CNN reported that crime has increased compared to 2021. This includes a 46.7 percent increase in regular thefts, a 54 percent increase in major thefts and a 14.9 percent jump in rape reports.

The homicide rate is down 13.1 percent from last year, but the homicide rate in New York is still up 9.2 percent from the previous two years.

CNN reports, after three decades of declining crime, crime rates across New York City rose in 2020.

Officials attribute the increase to a combination of factors, including changes in the judicial system, such as the reform of the bail law in New York and the introduction of smuggled and illegal weapons.

Pro-gun groups and criminologists say the ambiguity created by the Corona virus epidemic has increased crime in New York.

According to New York Mayor Eric Adams, the economic and social problems caused by the epidemic have contributed to the rise in crime.

According to him, the number of people who have lost their homes since the beginning of the epidemic has increased “significantly”.

In January, Adams announced a comprehensive plan to fight crime in New York. The plan includes increasing the patrolling of police officers, providing resources for the police weapons seizure unit, new technology to prevent the illegal entry of firearms, and creating jobs for at-risk residents. City officials have also renamed a controversial unit of plainclothes police “neighborhood security teams.”

One year after Joe Biden’s presidency and the numerous domestic and international troubles plaguing his administration, US experts speak of the rampant increase in deadly armed violence as one of the country’s internal problems, acknowledging that such violence in the United States is out of control.

The shooting comes as pressure on the US government to crack down on armed violence and firearms killings finally led US President Joe Biden to ban unregistered weapons yesterday.

Unregistered firearms are manufactured privately in the United States and are not registered in government databases or have a serial number.

Mortality from firearms in the United States has increased in 2021 compared to 2020, according to the Armed Violence Archives Group.

The NGO reported that in 2021, 20,726 deaths from firearms, excluding gun suicide, were recorded in the United States.

The group reported that armed violence in the United States in 2021 included 693 mass shootings that left 702 dead and more than 2,800 injured.

According to CNN, for every 100 Americans, there are an incredible 120 firearms, which is unbelievable for the world.

The exact number of weapons available to American citizens is unknown due to factors such as illicit sales and unregistered weapons, but according to Small Arms Survey, 393 million of the 857 million weapons available to civilians worldwide have millions of these weapons.
