China introduces new leader of Hong Kong

Pak Sahafat – China today (Sunday) announced the list of members of the new Hong Kong cabinet led by “John Lee” and the new cabinet is scheduled to officially take office on the first of next month (from the beginning of July) after taking the oath.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency on Sunday from the Xinhua news agency, The list of members of the new Hong Kong cabinet led by “John Lee” was announced by China, and the cabinet is scheduled to be sworn in on July 1, the 25th anniversary of the independence of Britain. Hong Kong was a British colony until 1997.

In a list published by the Xinhua News Agency and the Hong Kong government, “Eric Chan” is the second person after John Lee.

According to the report, some Hong Kong media outlets said that Chinese President Xi Jinping was scheduled to attend the inauguration of the Hong Kong leader, but this has not yet been officially confirmed. Hong Kong is currently on alert for the spread of the coronavirus, and more than a thousand new cases have been reported recently. Although no restrictions have been imposed yet, it is unclear what decisions will be made in the coming days.

Former Hong Kong security chief John Lee, 64, is set to take over as Hong Kong’s next leader on July 1 and was named chief executive officer of the Beijing Loyalty Committee in early May.

He was the sole candidate in Hong Kong’s federal electoral system in 2021, winning 99 percent of the vote. Members of the Hong Kong Electoral Commission, which is largely pro-Chinese central government, voted in a secret ballot to elect John Li as the chief executive or leader of the Chinese metropolis with 99 percent of the vote.
