Canadian Muslims call for action against Islamophobia

Following the recent racist plot against a Muslim family and the killing of four of its members in Canada, the Muslim community in Canada called for government action against Islamophobia.

Following the targeted killing of a Muslim family in the Canadian city Ontario, Muslims in Canada called for a meeting to discuss government action against Islamophobia in Canada.

The New York Times reported on the growing sense of insecurity in Canada that, the first was the shocking discovery of the bodies of 215 indigenous children in a mass grave on the site of a boarding school in Camelops, British Columbia, and then a driver using a black truck and invaded a Muslim family in London killing four members of this family and injuring another.

According to the report, the recent attack in London is not the first attack on Muslims in Canada. One of the most notable attacks on Canada’s long list of attacks on Muslims was the 2017 shooting at a mosque in Quebec City, Quebec, in which six people were killed and eight others were injured.

The New York Times continued that shortly after police revealed that the London attack was a crime and its victims were attacked because of their beliefs, many members of the Canadian Muslim community called for a national meeting on Islamophobia in Canada.

According to the New York Times, the Canadian Muslim community has called for a meeting of its leaders and political leaders from all levels of government.

Mustafa Farooq, Executive Director of the National Council of Muslims of Canada, stated that the meeting should address issues beyond the violence that Islamophobia creates, as well as systematic issues in places such as national security agencies and how racism is taught in education systems.
