British policy, closing Chinese schools and inviting Taiwanese teachers to teach

Pak Sahafat – The Guardian newspaper reported that Britain is looking to phase out Confucian institutions associated with the Chinese government and invite teachers from Taiwan to provide alternative programs for teaching Chinese.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency from the Guardian, about 30 branches of the Confucius Institute are working in England and teaching Chinese language and culture to people.

Until recently, the British government had a positive view of these schools, but as relations between London and Beijing soured, the situation began to change.

In late August, before Liz Truss became the new prime minister, The Times reported that he planned to declare China an “acute threat” to UK national security if elected.

According to the Guardian newspaper, London is also now planning to cut ties with China’s Confucius Institute and create alternative language programs with the participation of Taiwanese teachers.

According to this report, a group of British parliamentarians are currently negotiating with Taiwan about this proposal.
