America’s dual approach; condemning insulting religious books and supporting freedom of expression

Pak Sahafat – The spokesperson of the United States of America Ministry of Foreign Affairs once again, in continuation of his dual position and approach, on the one hand condemned the insult to religious books and on the other hand supported the freedom of speech.

According to the Pak Sahafat News Agency, Speaking to reporters in Washington, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said in response to a question about America’s response to the continued desecration of the Holy Quran in Denmark and Sweden, as well as violence against Muslims, claiming that we are concerned that these actions could lead to become violent.

Miller stated: We condemn the burning of religious books. At the same time, we support freedom of speech even when we disagree with it.

In recent years, some European countries, especially the Scandinavian region, have been the scene of violations and desecration of Muslim sanctities. Under the support of the Swedish police, the extreme rightists set fire to the Holy Quran, and Muslim protests were also suppressed.

“Salvan Momika”, a 37-year-old extremist of Iraqi origin, set fire to a volume of the Holy Quran in front of the Stockholm Grand Mosque a few weeks ago with the permission of the Swedish police and in the presence of dozens of people, which met with a wave of international condemnation.

The judicial system and the government of Iraq have demanded his extradition to Iraq for trial in the shadow of the emphasis of the authorities and political and religious figures and different strata of the people.

Today, “Salvan Momika” and “Salvan Najem” set fire to pages of the Holy Quran after desecrating it in front of the Swedish Parliament.

The emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation regarding the insulting of the Holy Qur’an was held this Monday evening with the presence of the foreign ministers of the member countries.
