American commander: We should not underestimate the power of the Russian army

Pak Sahafat – The commander of the American forces stationed in Europe, despite speculations about the start of counterattacks against Ukraine, considered Moscow to be the biggest threat to NATO and added that the power of the Russian army should not be underestimated.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency’s report, citing Newsweek magazine, General Christopher J. Cawley, the commander of American forces in Europe, warned that the Russian army, despite facing major challenges in the war in Ukraine, is still considered a serious threat to the NATO military alliance.

In his speech at the Lennart Meri conference in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, Kavli asked Western observers and analysts not to be satisfied only with the failures of the Russian ground forces in Ukraine in their conclusions about the state of the war.

This American general then added: The destruction of the Russian army in Ukraine is a matter that must be carefully examined. This is not a simple thing. He further emphasized: The easiest option is to think that the Russian army has fallen apart, or is in serious trouble. But in reality, such a matter is not so simple.

Kavli claimed in Adame: The Russian army is severely eroded and they are facing many challenges. Many people and equipment have also been lost. But we should not ignore the fact that the army of this country has destroyed many Ukrainian forces and you know that the ground force of the Russian army is bigger today than it was at the beginning of this conflict. So, it’s still there.

This American military official stationed in Europe then pointed to the power of the Russian Air Force and added: its air force has lost less than 100 fighters and bombers and still has another 1,000 fighters at its disposal. The Russian Navy and the space and cyber sectors have lost almost nothing. So when we talk about the Russian army, we have to check and be ready to deal with it in all areas.

Newsweek continued: While the number of casualties of the Russian army in Ukraine is still unclear, Kiev claims to have killed nearly 200,000 Russian soldiers since the start of the war on February 24, 2022. While, according to the estimate of American intelligence, the number of 200,000 people includes all the dead and wounded of the Russian army.

General Cavali then pointed to the questions that have always been raised since the beginning of the war in Ukraine and said: It is not clear how long the reconstruction will take. There is no switch for the current state that we turn on or off. We must know that we must be ready. From now on, we must be ready to defend our nations and, in the case of the alliance, to defend the territory of the member states of this alliance.
