Al-Mashat: America is looking to stonewall the Yemeni peace process

Pak Sahafat – Mehdi Al-Mashat, head of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council, said on Thursday night that America is trying to throw stones at Yemen’s peace process.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency’s report from “Al-Mayadeen” network, Al-Mashat also stated that the United States does not want humanitarian issues to be resolved in Yemen.

He emphasized: Americans do not want humanitarian issues to be resolved, and this issue is not in the interest of the Saudi government and the region, and Riyadh should not give in to pressure from Washington.

Al-Mashat added: The only achievement of surrendering to American pressure will be destruction and instability.

Al-Mashat’s statements follow the diplomatic efforts and repeated calls by the officials of the countries in the region, as well as the American and United Nations officials, to establish peace in Yemen.

In this regard, American Foreign Minister Anthony Blinken and Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan had a telephone conversation on Wednesday night about the efforts to establish peace in Yemen based on the ongoing negotiations between Riyadh and Ansarullah.

According to a statement from the US State Department, Blinken spoke with his Saudi counterpart and discussed the role of Saudi Arabia in negotiations with the Houthis (Ansarullah) and ongoing efforts to achieve peace in Yemen.

In this telephone conversation, Blinken emphasized the support of the United States for efforts that pave the way for the Yemeni-Saudi peace process with the mediation of the United Nations with the aim of achieving a comprehensive solution to the conflict.

Also, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman “Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi” had a conversation with his Emirati counterpart “Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan” about efforts to establish peace in Yemen.
