Afghanistan’s political leaders are forming a united front to negotiate with the Taliban

A group of Afghan-led leaders, including two powerful regional officials, are forming a coalition to talk to the Taliban and want to form a new front in a few weeks to discuss the future government of Afghanistan.

According to Reuters, Khalid Noor, the son of Atta Mohammad Noor, once the powerful governor of Balkh, said the group consisted of Abdul Rashid Dostum, an Uzbek leader and others opposed to Taliban rule in Afghanistan.

27years old Noor said: We prefer to talk comprehensively and in groups, because this problem of Afghanistan will not be solved by one of us. That is why it is important for the entire political community of the country to talk to each other, especially the traditional leaders who have the power and support of the public.

Atta Noor and Dostum, who have been powerful leaders in the Afghan conflict for decades, both fled the country after the fall of Mazar-e-Sharif to the Taliban.

Unlike 20 years ago, the Pashtun Taliban seeks the support of Tajiks, Uzbeks and other minorities in Afghanistan.

Khalid Noor also referred to the conditions that the Taliban had created for ethnic minority groups in Afghanistan 20 years ago.

This militant group is now very arrogant because they have won the war in Afghanistan militarily. But what we anticipate is that they know the dangers of governing like they did 20 years ago.

He continued: Despite the commitment to dialogue, there is a great danger that negotiations may fail. Surrender is not for us. The Taliban cannot stand up to the popular resistance in Afghanistan.

History has shown that no one in Afghanistan can rule by force, and that is impossible. No matter how much this process is supported by the international community, such a government will fail.
