Advisor to the Prime Minister of Pakistan visit to Iran for trade talks

Islamabad – Pak Sahafat – Abdul Razzaq Daud, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Trade and Investment, left for Tehran on Friday morning to attend the ninth meeting of the Joint Trade Committee with the Islamic Republic of Iran and meet with Iranian officials with the aim of promoting trade, economic and cross-border cooperation.

According to Pak Sahafat news agency, Abdul Razzaq Daud left Islamabad International Airport for Tehran today along with some senior officials of the Pakistani Ministry of Commerce.

During his official visit to Iran, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Acting Minister of Commerce of Pakistan is scheduled to meet with Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade Seyed Reza Fatemi Amin, Deputy Foreign Minister Mehdi Safari and other officials of our country.

The main agenda of the ninth meeting of the Iran-Pakistan Joint Trade Committee is with the presence of ministers and senior officials of trade and commerce, according to which the latest developments related to bilateral economic cooperation, trade, cross-border trade, customs and development of joint cross-border markets will be reviewed.

In addition, issues such as preferential trade and free trade agreements between Iran and Pakistan and cooperation in setting up the exhibition will be followed by the presence of banking, commercial, private sector officials and officials of the chambers of commerce of the two neighboring countries.

Abdul Razzaq Daud yesterday (Thursday) in a meeting with the Prime Minister of Pakistan “Imran Khan”, stated his future visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran as important for the development of bilateral relations, especially the strengthening of trade relations between Tehran and Islamabad.

The Pakistani Prime Minister’s Adviser on Trade last month described his forthcoming visit to Iran as very important during a meeting between the chairman and members of the Iran-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group in the Islamic Consultative Assembly in Islamabad.

It is worth mentioning that the eighth meeting of the Iran-Pakistan Joint Trade Committee was held in mid-July 2009 in Islamabad, hosted by the Government of Pakistan.
