Mohammad Mohaqiq, Advisor to the President of Afghanistan on Political and Security Affairs, emphasized: The US withdrawal was in the interests of the United States in favor of the Democrats and the administration of President Joe Biden.
Mohaqiq stated: US military commanders did not agree to such a surprise departure.
He noted that the Taliban entered the area without any resistance because Afghan forces wanted to unite and focus on defense. We cannot say that we are worried about a civil war while such a war is going on.
The Afghan official clarified: Currently, the people’s forces are fighting alongside the government, the army and the police, and this will lead to the expansion of the circle of war.
Mohaqiq emphasized: Negotiations have been going on in Doha for the past 10 months and have not reached any conclusion. The Taliban do not want peace, they want to occupy Afghanistan and take control of it through war. Those who believe that negotiations will lead to results and internal peace are wrong. But negotiations will not be successful until the Taliban are convinced of achieving peace other than war.
Advisor to the President of Afghanistan stated: We have a long way to go. Even the Taliban understand that the military path will never be successful. But the Taliban want a pure Taliban government and a revival of the system that existed 20 years ago. We also say we want an Islamic system, but our understanding of Islam is different.
According to the Afghan official, we will never give up the republic while the Taliban do not believe in elections and the republic.
He added: Also, the rights of women, human rights, children, the rights of minorities are enshrined in the constitution and we do not waive them.
